Open Volunteer & Intern Positions at the Institute for Family Health for the Spring Semester: Apply Now!
The Institute for Family Health is committed to fostering the development of future health professionals by creating engaging opportunities for individuals interested in pursuing healthcare careers. Those placed at the Institute have the chance to get an in-depth look at how community health centers function and to learn about future healthcare careers. Applicants can be placed in various departments, including in health centers, community outreach, or program development, depending on their experience and interests.***Please note, students who are flexible in their location and/or position preferences will have a better chance of being selected. ***
We currently have openings for the Spring Semester (January-April) in the following tracks for Manhattan and the Bronx:
1) Clinical: This includes BSN/RN Students (approx. 5 openings), Medical Assistant Students (4 openings), Physician's Assistant Students (2 openings) and 1st or 2nd year medical students who are seeking clinical rotations at the Institute. An agreement must be in place between the school and the Institute.
2) Graduate (10 positions available): This includes MPH students, Public Administration Students, other graduate students and international medical students looking for research opportunities or more advanced internships. Placements this semester include:

*         Policy and Advocacy at School Based Health Centers in Manhattan

*         Health Education and Promotion at School Based Health Centers in Manhattan

*         Continuous Quality Improvement and Research Initiatives in Manhattan and the Bronx

*         Health Administration: Productivity Analysis and Improving Clinical Workflow in Manhattan & the Bronx

*         Grant Management: Chart Review, literature review, data analysis for research in Manhattan

*         Human Resources/Health Administration: recruitment and retention, policy revision, and orientation

*         HIV/AIDS Services: Developing cascade for HIV patients, data analysis, grant reporting in Manhattan
3) Undergraduate (15-20 positions available): This includes college students or those interested in gaining general experience in healthcare. Placements this semester include:

*         Health Information Technology : "MyChart" (patient access to  secure medical records via app and website) enrollment and education in Manhattan and the Bronx

*         Healthcare Administration: Patient Empanelment, results, and chart review in the Bronx

*         Health Communications: social media & digital community management in Manhattan

*         Patient Advocates for HIV/AIDS services in Manhattan

*         Patient outreach for patients enrolled in HIV/AIDS services in Manhattan

*         Continuous Quality Improvement Initiatives in Manhattan and the Bronx, including chart review and telephone outreach to patients

*         Patient outreach on preventative care including cancer screenings and annual wellness visits in Manhattan and the Bronx

*         Patient Advocates and accompaniment for homeless patients in Manhattan
