Subject: student intern opportunities at CCTS Rockefeller University's bioinformatics core

Dear Lev, Kemble, Vanessa:

Hi, my name is Yupu Liang. I got your contact informations from Samantha Lish who is doing wonderful research with my colleague Dan Gareau.

I am leading a small group to support bioinformatics and medical informatics need for Rockefeller University’s CCTS (http://www.rockefeller.edu/ccts/about).

My group does a combination of technical support (70%) and our own research (30%). At the moment, I have 1-2 student internship positions open up that have potential to lead to full time positions if things work out well.

The ideal candidate would be somebody that is self-motivated and has research interests of utilizing computer science skill on biological and medical problem. One position is slightly more technical demanding that requires some previous python/Django programming experience. The other positive is open level: the person need to have some programming experience in R, python, java or C++.  We are flexible in term of time commitment (10-20 hour/week during school year, 20-40 hour/week during school breaks).

I would really appreciate your help to get these opportunities spread and I also want to see if there is any possibility of establishing a formal student training partnership between my department and your program.

Please let me know if you any question and I am also available to meet in person if that is helpful.

Best,
Yupu
