Position Description:
Bilingual (fluent in both English and Spanish
OR English and Chinese) research assistant needed to help physician with research projects taking place at NYU School of Medicine/Bellevue Hospital Center Department of Pediatrics and Charles
B. Wang Community Health Center.
For Spanish-speaking candidates, positions are available in projects that involve looking at the impact of parent literacy on children’s health, with areas of focus including parent
understanding of medication instructions/prevention of medication errors, and childhood obesity prevention and asthma.
Cantonese/Mandarin-speaking volunteers are needed in a childhood obesity prevention study conducted at the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center located in lower Manhattan.
The research assistant would help with multiple aspects of the research projects, including:
Data collection
- Enrollment of families
- Performing parent interviews and administration of assessments
Maintenance of research data
- Scoring of questionnaires and assessments
- Data entry
Administrative support
- Preparation of materials for assessments
- Ordering/organizing study materials, including incentives for participation and office supplies
Commitment:
- To train during the current semester
- A minimum of 2 semesters after training, consisting of two 4-hour shifts per week
- Shifts are Monday through Friday beginning at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. daily or full day shift from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Qualifications:
- Fluency in English and Spanish OR English and Mandarin (ability to read/write Chinese a plus)
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Prior research experience (preferred, not required)
