Are you interested in toddler development in Latino immigrants? If you are, then you should intern with the COMIDITA study!

COMIDITA (Cognitive Outcomes in Mexican Immigrants Dietary Intake and Toddler Assessment) focuses measuring the impact of diet on neurocognitive outcomes in Columbia University Early Head Start toddlers born to Latino immigrants living in New York City. Students will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and administer neurocognitive assessments and behavioral measures on toddlers.

Interns will have the opportunity to work with faculty and students from public health, psychology, nutrition, and social work as well as the PI, co-investigators, and research assistants.

Interns will work under the guidance of Manuela Orjuela-Grimm, the Principal Investigator and Assistant Professor at Mailman School of Public Health, and Maria Martí Castaner, clinical child psychologist and fellow in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Clinical Psychology Departments and in the Department of Population and Family Health. This project is based in the Department of Epidemiology, as well as in the Department of Population and Family Health at the Mailman School of Public Health, and the Columbia University Head Start.

Interns can expect to play an active role in ongoing data collection, conduct neurocognitive assessments with toddlers (Bayley Screener, WPPSI IV, Woodcock Muñoz Picture and Vocabulary, and NIH Toolbox assessments), and participate actively in weekly team meetings.

Prospective interns should have the following qualifications:
