Opportunities are available for volunteer research assistants to join a project in the NYU Department of Pediatrics based primarily at NYU Brooklyn Hospital in Sunset Park. The project examines family and provider experiences with a screening tool for social needs in the pediatric clinic.

 

As a research assistant, you will be engaged in multiple aspects of this ongoing project, including:

- Recruitment and enrollment of research subjects

- Performing parent interviews and administering assessments

- Data entry and scoring of questionnaires and assessments

- Organization of study materials

 

We ask for a commitment of two 4-hour shifts per week for a minimum of 6 months, with likely opportunities to volunteer during the December-January winter break.  The clinic location is accessible via public transportation, or from the School of Medicine campus via the NYU Medical Ferry. Research assistants will primarily be based at the Brooklyn location, though occasional trips to the primary NYU School of Medicine campus will be required for initial training.

 

Qualifications

- Excellent communication and organization skills

- Spanish fluency preferred

- Prior research experience preferred but not required

- Computer skills including proficiency in spreadsheet/database software like Microsoft Excel

- Comfort in working independently as well as in a more collaborative environment
