Healthy Bytes Internship Program -Summer 2018

The Environment

Healthy Bytes focuses on health insurance, so dietitians can focus on treating their patients.

We’re a HIPAA-compliant web-based platform accessible from any device. Healthy Bytes is

a rapidly growing startup with offices in New York and North Carolina. We are looking for

several ambitious and motivated interns to join our mission: to empower dietitians to

become an integral part of medical care by connecting them with patients, providers, and

payers. The dietitians (and coffee) are our biggest motivators.

Healthy Bytes was founded by Dr. Amy Roberts (a PhD in Nutrition Epidemiology) and Smita

Purekar (aeronautic scientist) and the company's mission is to make nutrition services more

accessible to patients and insurance relations less cumbersome for providers. The interns

will be surrounded by smart, well-connected industry leaders. This is a paid internship .

Job Description

Throughout this internship, you will learn about ensuring appropriate insurance verification,

ascertaining benefits for patients, completing pre-determinations, and prior authorizations.

You will communicate with other departments including account management, product

management, contracting, sales, and the data team. You will be responsible for maintaining

and properly handling outbound calls. Additional research projects may be a part of this

internship, depending on areas of particular interest.

As part of this internship, you'll be involved with :

● Health insurance reimbursement for dietitians, including HIPAA compliance

● Customer service

● Professional writing and communication

● Public health research

● Developing resources for the dietitians using our services

● Providing feedback on improvement of our products

● Working closely with our analytics team to understand the value of the data we're

collecting...and so much more!

By the completion of the internship, you’ll have a deep understanding of the role that

nutritional counseling and preventive care plays in the healthcare sector.
