AXA Equitable Law Department Undergraduate Internship: Compliance

The Law Department of AXA Equitable is pleased to announce a for-credit internship specifically created for academically talented Hunter Pre-Law undergraduates with a serious interest in pursuing a legal career in compliance. The internship is unique in providing a for-credit experience at the regulatory nexus of legal and business issues.

About the AXA Equitable Law Department

The Law Department provides high quality, responsible and efficient legal representation to the Company’s business areas and subsidiaries as to the legal aspects of business choices and opportunities available under existing law, as well as positioning the Company to respond to emerging legal issues.

About the Internship

The intern will report to the Compliance group and will work directly with paralegals, attorneys and other Law Department professionals in the real-life application of legal principles, drawing upon writing and analytical skills developed in the classroom.  Given the varied issues routinely handled by and within the Compliance group and the paralegal functions of the Law Department, the internship aims to offer the student an introduction to the principles of business leadership in addition to an exciting, wide-ranging, hands-on legal experience. In that regard, applicants should be proactive and pragmatic team players.

The applicant is expected to work two 5-hour days per week, i.e. a total of 10 hours per week.

The internship will provide credit commensurate with the rules of the intern’s academic department at Hunter College. The student will be responsible for any arrangements to be made in coordination with the academic department in order to obtain credit. There is a modest stipend associated with the internship. The intern will receive $10 per hour.
