AILACTers,

Glad to know that Sharon too is interested in what is taught in a critical thinking course (which of course I knew already). But I didn’t mean to be picking out argument as the chief concern. I expressed interest in defining ‘argument’ in part because that is a place where one’s degree of interest in justification (a chief concern) would show. Furthermore though I certainly think argument (taken broadly) is important, I also think that investigating/inquiring and clarifying are important areas (as I noted yesterday), as well as suggesting hypotheses, interpretations, conclusions, and research plans (all of which are at least partly creative activities), are important too, but dealing with all that and more would probably make things too complicated at this point

Bob Ennis
