Office of Assessment Tip of the Week

Formative assessment is the monitoring of student learning to provide ongoing feedback in order to inform pedagogy and student learning. Studies show that formative assessment can greatly enhance the speed of student learning because it lets students see if their work needs to improve and in what areas. Try incorporating formative assessments into your classroom - such as short in-class quizzes or one minute write-ups done at the end of each class.
