Invite to Fit City 7: Promoting Physical Activity through Design

The seventh annual Fit City conference, organized by AIANY and the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene, will take place at AIANY's Center for Architecture in New York City on May 21, 2012. A program agenda is included below.

Fit City 7 will bring together architects, planners, designers, landscape architects, developers, and public health professionals to discuss how design, policy, and practice decisions can address the key health epidemics of our time: obesity and related chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, some cancers and asthma. Conference participants will hear how the strategies included in the Active Design Guidelines (www.nyc.gov/adg<http://www.nyc.gov/adg>), released in January 2010, are being implemented at New York City agencies, in the private sector, and in communities across the world.

This year's event will include highlights from members of the recently formed Mayor's Obesity Task Force, case studies of Active Design from around the nation and world, and opportunities for discussion about the future of these issues.

To register, please visit: www.aiany.org/calendar<http://www.aiany.org/calendar> and locate Fit City 7 on May 21st of this year.
