HEALTHY CUNY WORKSHOP

A FIVE DAY TRAINING PROGRAM FOR CUNY STUDENTS WHO WANT TO TAKE ACTION TO
MAKE CUNY A HEALTHIER UNIVERSITY
January 20, 23, 24, and 25 with a follow-up session during Spring semester
(date t.b.d.)

Healthy CUNY, led by the CUNY School of Public Health and the CUNY
Office of Mental Health & Wellness Services, is an ongoing initiative to
make CUNY the healthiest urban campus in the country. We are pleased to
offer a five-day training program on issues designed to prepare students to
take action for healthier CUNY policies and programs related to tobacco,
food and mental health. The sessions will be held between the hours of 10
a.m. and 5 p.m., at the CUNY Graduate Center. Speakers will include CUNY
faculty and staff and seasoned professionals in the fields of tobacco
control, food policy, nutrition, and mental health services. The workshop
and projects offer CUNY students an opportunity to learn and practice new
skills and to make CUNY a healthier campus. Students from all disciplines,
campuses and levels of training (e.g., community college to doctoral
programs) are encouraged to apply.

Students will not receive academic credit for their participation, but
will receive a stipend of up to $300. $100 will be provided at the
completion of the workshop and $200 will be awarded upon successful
completion of a campus-based education or intervention project supporting
Health CUNY Tobacco, Obesity and Mental Health Initiatives. Everyone who
attends the workshop is expected to complete a project and must be enrolled
at a CUNY campus for the Spring semester. Students who are planning spring
semester internships or field placement in settings where obesity, tobacco
use, or mental health are serious concerns are especially encouraged to
apply.
Application is attached and must be returned by December 15, 2011 to the
following email address: [log in to unmask]
Please include a cover letter with your application stating your interests
in Healthy CUNY and reasons for applying for the workshop.
