REQUEST FOR STUDENT PUBLIC HEALTH PRACTICE PROPOSALS

from Division of Public Health Practice and Community Engagement



The Division of Public Health Practice and Community Engagement of the CUNY School of Public Health is seeking project proposals from faculty and students to further its goal of expanding the School's engagement with public health practice and deepening its community involvement.  Targeted mini-grants will be awarded for work to be conducted during summer and Fall 2015.



STUDENT PROJECT

Eligibility: Current MPH students enrolled at any CUNY campus to support fieldwork or capstone projects that lead to improvements in population health

Available support: $2,000 maximum per award, up to four awards.

Funding support is available to support MPH students in carrying out field work or capstone projects and to strengthen the capacity of community organizations to improve population health. The goals of this student mini-grant are to strengthen and enhance student engagement in public health research and practice, to augment the fieldwork and capstone learning process.

Interested students should submit a brief proposal (up to 750 words) describing the proposed project, and incorporating the following information: Description/purpose; Any partnering organization(s); Objectives and activities; Value added by funding, and impact on Capstone project. Please include an itemized budget; up to half the total budget may be allocated to support student time and effort.  A brief letter of support from a community organization should be included and a letter of agreement from a faculty sponsor who is willing to advise the project.



INSTRUCTIONS

Deadline for proposals: 5pm EST,   April 2, 2015. Submission: By electronic mail, submit the complete proposal as a single document to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> Format: Proposal header should state "Student Public Health Practice Proposal", contact name, email address.



AWARDS

Proposals will be reviewed and evaluated by the Division's newly-formed faculty advisory group. Awards will be announced by April 23rd and all funds must be distributed to faculty and students by June 1, 2014.
