1. Introducing New Park City Faculty (Park Record)

Annie Grappone comes from a family of educators. Her mother worked as a school counselor and her father an English teacher. Grappone said she recently went back to school to get her Master'sDegree because she knew her future was also in education. Grappone moved from New York City to Utah this summer and is now the after-school coordinator for the community education-supported program Camp Falcon, located at Parley's Park Elementary School.


"I knew I was always meant to live out West. When I decide to move out here Park Citybecame the No. 1 choice," she said. "I moved to Utah to have a more outdoor lifestyle and to have a change of scenery, literally." …

3. Performing Arts Faculty Join Campus (Hobart and William Smith Colleges)

With the new academic year, Hobart and William Smith Colleges continue to expand the breadth and depth of the course offerings and the diversity of the faculty. Joining the Colleges this year are several new faces in the theatre and music departments, helping students explore dramatic literature, music of the film world and the culture of hip-hop.

Charity Lofthouse joined the Colleges as an instructor of music. After receiving her B.M. from Oberlin College in 1999,Lofthouse is now a Ph.D. candidate at the CUNY Graduate Center, where she is working on her dissertation "Sonata Theory, Rotational Form, and Deformation in Dmitri Shostakovich's Early Symphonies." This semester, Lofthouse is teaching the classes "Music at the Movies" and "Chromatic Theory."…
