Kitchen Operations Manager

Toni's Kitchen at St. Luke's Episcopal Church

St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Montclair, NJ is seeking a part-time (25 hours) Kitchen Operations Manager for its core food ministry, Toni's Kitchen.  The position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the soup kitchen which include but are not limited to: ensuring that all meals are prepared in accordance with approved nutrition standards; that food is handled in accordance with industry standards for safety: that inventory of food and supplies is consistent with the kitchen's needs; and that the guest population is treated with respect and dignity.  Other responsibilities include recruiting and ensuring that volunteers feel welcomed and valued as key members of the kitchen operations.

The position is also responsible for integrating the relationship between Toni's Kitchen and the broader mission and goals of St. Luke's Outreach.  All candidates must have experience working with donors and community groups. Good interpersonal skills are needed for the position in order to interact and maintain relationships internally and externally.  All candidates must have experience with developing budgets and seeking in-kind resources.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

*         Kitchen operations, including menu planning, inventory management, purchasing, food safety, kitchen safety, food intake and meal deliveries.

*         Oversight of all meal production including on-site and outreach meals, and menu changes.

*         Kitchen Maintenance,  including facilities and equipment.

*         Budget and Financial Management and Volunteer and Community Engagement including collaboration with St. Luke's, donor relations, optimizing use of social media and outreach.
