More About Q Farms
Q Farms is a family run business and the owners actively participate in the
operations. The farm manager has farmed for 7 years as the beekeeper and
assistant livestock manager at Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture in
NY. Before that he was an agriculture extension Peace Corps volunteer for
three years in Malawi, East Africa. Him and his wife have joined Q Farms in
April 2015, because of the opportunity to put their passion for socially and
ecologically responsible agriculture into practice.
We believe that when an animal has healthy, natural food, clean water,
pastures to roam and is monitored and interacted with regularly to detect any
small issues before they get to be problems, they will thrive and produce the
highest quality meat. We do not use pesticides, non-therapeutic antibiotics
or other chemicals on our farm. We believe that this requires us to have a
diverse group of animals and plants that ensure that there is a depth and
breadth of variation to replicate what nature does best. We seek to create an
ecosystem on our Farm that allows all of our plants and animals to thrive.
We also care about the humane treatment of our animals from birth to
processing. Where we can, we will process the animals at our own facility.
When we can’t we will ensure that we find a processing facility that is
passionate about the humane treatment of animals.
Together, with our community, we believe we can build a sustainable, viable
farming business if we work to stay connected with our customers, help educate
them on the food they eat and be open to changing and modifying our products
to best suit what they want without compromising our values to ensure our
animals are raised in a humane, healthy, happy environment.
