Subject: FW: Intern for CHW survey

Dear Velvet

And here is a 3rd internship opportunity that students may find interesting.

Students can still submit their CVs and cover letters to me and I will forward on the application to Dr Rasanathan.

Thank you in advance!

Best regards
Alyssa Sharkey

Subject: Intern for CHW survey

Dear Alyssa

As discussed, we need an intern from May to August 2013 to help with undertaking a survey of policy for integrated community case management of maternal and child health in sub-Saharan Africa. The outputs would include a report to be discussed at a symposium in Kenya in December 2013 (financial support to attend not available but we could facilitate participation) and at least one, if not more, peer-reviewed journal publication.

A previous survey was conducted two years ago, so the work would involve evaluating progress since then, adapting the tools.

Specific duties for the intern:

1. Adapting and finalizing survey

2. Liaising with data manager on platform to enter and analyse data from the survey

3. Working with regional colleagues to start data collection in UNICEF country offices and Ministries of Health in sub-Saharan Africa (from New York)

4. Following up on completion of surveys

5. Cleaning and entering of data

6. Analysis of data

7. Participation in write-up or report and peer-reviewed articles

So essentially need a MPH type student with excellent oral and written communication skills, initiative, willingness to learn, some understanding of research, and good IT skills.

Thanks

Kumanan
