Brooklyn College faculty-led program: India: Global Health could be a great fit for you, your academic career, and personal development!

Program Dates:
December 29, 2017 – January 24, 2017 (tentative)
This program is open to all undergraduate and graduate students, and of particular interest for students in public health, community medicine and development studies.

About this program:
-- 4-credit program introduces students to India through the study of global health and social anthropology.
-- Stay at the world-renowned Comprehensive Rural Health Program (CRHP)<http://jamkhed.org/> in Jamkhed, Maharashtra, India.
-- The medical director of CRHP lectures on global health, community health worker training, and rural medical care.
-- Students visit rural villages to observe firsthand the everyday activities of village health workers.
-- The program focuses on the dramatic changes in the health and well-being of rural villagers and anthropological approaches to global, social, political, and economic matters in the local context.
-- Meet women village health workers and learn from their own testimony about their life transitions from teenage bride to respected village health practitioner and political leader.
-- Visit the sacred monuments of Hinduism, Jainism, and Buddhism in Ellora and Ajunta.
-- Experience modern Bollywood-influenced shopping malls, tour The Raja Dinkar Kelar Museum of Indian life and The Tribal Museum in the city of Pune.

Program Cost:
-- Program fee: $2,159 estimated (includes CISI health/travel insurance, program-related transportation in India, excursions, housing, and some meals).
-- Brooklyn College tuition and fees<http://www.brooklyn.cuny.edu/web/about/offices/bursar/tuition.php> for four credits.
-- Out-of-pocket costs ($1,825 estimated minimum) for personal expenses, Internet access, visa, laundry, out-of-pocket meals, and international round-trip airfare to India.

Estimated Program Cost: $3,984 plus Brooklyn College tuition for credits taken.
