Thompson Reuters Issues First Impact Factor to PCD

[PCD's first cover image]<http://www.cdc.gov/pcd/issues/2004/jan/cover.htm>

Preventing Chronic Disease (PCD) has just received its first Thomson Reuters impact factor- a rating issued to journals measuring the average frequency with which articles are cited in a year or period. With its impact factor of 1.819, PCD is one of the highest debuting public health journals in 2012. PCD has a circulation of more than 46,000 and growing, owing to content available via the PCD website<http://www.cdc.gov/pcd/>, RSS feeds<http://www2c.cdc.gov/podcasts/createrss.asp?t=r&c=6>, and the CDC iPad application<http://www.cdc.gov/features/ipadapp/>.

PCD recognizes that such an important milestone could not have been achieved without the commitment and support of its peer reviewers, contributors, and readers. PCD continues to expand its outreach, and the journal is now indexed in PubMed, Science Citation Index Expanded, Social Sciences Citation Index, and Current Contents. Full-text content is available in PubMed Central, EBSCOhost, CrossRef, and LinkOut. PCD's articles continue to report on the latest developments in preventing and controlling chronic diseases and conditions, promoting health, and examining the biological, behavioral, physical, and social determinants of health and their effect on quality of life, illness, and death across the life span.

Please continue to visit PCD at www.cdc.gov/pcd<http://www.cdc.gov/pcd/> for weekly articles, as well as podcasts and announcements.

Best regards,

The PCD Staff
