Part Time Coordinator for Healthy Food Retail Networking Group at Public Health Solutions

About Public Health Solutions: Public Health Solutions is a nonprofit organization that develops, implements and advocates dynamic solutions to prevent disease and improve community health. We conduct comprehensive research providing insight on public health issues, create and manage community health programs, and provide services to organizations to address public health challenges. Programs of Public Health Solutions address critical public health needs such as maternal and child health, nutrition, access to health insurance, HIV prevention and care, and smoking cessation. For government agencies, nonprofit organizations and others, Public Health Solutions provides services to enable them to enhance their effectiveness and strengthen their capacity to have an impact and efficiently manage funds.

Job Description:  The position will coordinate meetings, record meeting minutes? and organize documents, and perform other administrative tasks for the Healthy Food Retail Networking Group (HFRNG).  The HFRNG is a citywide coalition of organizations and practitioners that work with retail food businesses, primarily corner stores and supermarkets, in order to increase access to healthy food at these businesses.  In addition to quarterly group meetings, the HFRNG also has several committees that communicate via regular meetings and phone calls throughout the year.

10 hours/week for twelve weeks - from November 2015 through January 2016.   The position is likely to be extended through 2016 depending on funding, however extension beyond January 2016 cannot be guaranteed at this time.

Primary Responsibilities

Event / meeting planning - booking space and arranging equipment set-up; sending out save the date notices and invitations; drafting, printing, and posting meeting materials and signage; arranging food; etc.

Organizing and coordinating all professional networking events and liaise between committees / workgroups;

Attending HFRNG sub-committees and calls, and recording and distributing meeting notes and follow-up tasks;

Maintaining and posting to the HFRNG Google Group email list;

Possible additional responsibilities may include: assisting with e-quarterly newsletter development; monitoring current trends related to food-access programming and policy; exploring and identifying sustainable funding mechanisms to support this work.

Should have some availability at least several weekdays per week, including January 28 for the group's next quarterly meeting.

Qualifications

-       Good professional communication skills (written and spoken);
-       Enthusiasm for public health and nutrition;
-       Basic computer skills.  The coordinator will use Microsoft Office especially Outlook & Excel; Google products
         including Google Groups; Survey Monkey.
-       Dependable, responsible, independent, self-starter, organized.

Compensation
The position pays $17/hour and does not include health benefits.
