Efforts to improve the nutrition of kids' meals just took a key step in the right direction. Davis, California just became the first jurisdiction in the country to ensure that default beverages on restaurant children's menus are water or milk, and not soda or other sugary drinks (congratulations First 5 Yolo & California Center for Public Health Advocacy). To view the ordinance, click here<http://city-council.cityofdavis.org/Media/Default/Documents/PDF/CityCouncil/CouncilMeetings/Agendas/20150526/07-Kids-Meal-Beverages.pdf>. Please share Davis' inspiring good news (see model tweets below) & let us know if your state or locality wants to follow Davis' lead with your own healthy kids meal bill.

Model Tweets:

* .@CityofDavis<mailto:.@CityofDavis> parents don't want soda on kids menus. @AmeriBev<https://twitter.com/AmeriBev> @WeRRestaurants<https://twitter.com/WeRRestaurants> should get sodas off all kids menus.

* #Sugary<https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Sugary> soft drinks are #1 source of calories for kids and a leading cause of obesity. So @CityofDavis<file:///C:\Users\tonye\Desktop\Work%20Files\Davis,%20CA\CityofDavis> did this http://goo.gl/TvzoRd

* .@CSPI<mailto:.@CSPI> & @CityofDavis believe that giving soda to kids is up to parents, not restaurant marketers. http://goo.gl/4fu5ij

* Congrats to @CityofDavis<https://twitter.com/CityofDavis> @CCPHA<https://twitter.com/CCPHA> & #First5Yolo<https://twitter.com/search?q=%23First5Yolo> on passing first bill in the country to make healthy beverages default on all kids menus.
Best,
