Healthy Weight Surveillance Announcement

The CDC's Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity (DNPAO), along with national and state partners, have been working jointly to develop national standards which would allow for measured height and weight data, along with some additional healthy weight data, captured in electronic health records to be transmitted to state and local public health agencies.
Initial steps include drafting a Health Level Seven International (HL7) message standard and implementation guide which has recently been posted for public comment. To view and comment on the BMI HL7 Implementation Guide please go to http://www.hl7.org/participate/onlineballoting.cfm?ref=nav. The comment period is open for individuals or organizations registered on or before April 22. All comments must be submitted by the close of the ballot cycle on April 29. If you or your organization is not a member of the HL7 community, but you would still like to provide comments, please contact Margaret West with the DNPAO at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> by Friday, April 19 for inclusion.
For more information or if you are interested in being involved in on-going discussions related to the Healthy Weight Surveillance Project, please contact Margaret West at the e-mail previously provided.
