The Florida Department of Health WIC Program Services has job openings for nutrition educators and public health nutritionists. Would you please share the attached information (Jobs list) with your graduating students who are looking for nutrition jobs?

Currently, we have openings for a nutrition educator in both Lee County and Polk County. The attached list includes other nutrition position vacancies expected to be advertised in the near future on People First, Florida’s on-line application system. Students may contact me or the contact person listed on the attached job opportunities list, for further information about position openings in a specific county.

Please note the current requirements for Florida public health nutrition professionals:

1. Health Educators L2 (Nutrition Educator) positions require a bachelor’s degree in nutrition or dietetics. Students must have graduated to be considered for these positions.

2. Public Health Nutritionists are required to be licensed as a dietitian/nutritionist in the State of Florida. In order to become licensed, the applicant must have already attained a minimum of a bachelor's degree in nutrition, completed a 900-hour preplanned supervised experience (such as a dietetic internship), and passed the RD exam. Registered dietitians are able to apply for licensure by endorsement.

For the most up-to-date information regarding which local WIC agencies are currently taking applications, job applicants should check the State of Florida job locator web site: Florida People First web site at: https://jobs.myflorida.com/index.html, Click “View All Jobs.” Toward the bottom of the page, under Keywords, insert "nutrition" and press "Search". Click on “Expand all categories”. Please note: job openings are generally for applicants who are seeking full-time, career service (not temporary) positions.

For more information about Florida licensure, see the Florida Dietetics and Nutrition Practice Council web site at:http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/dietetics/.

Thank you.
