For the first time in almost two decades, the Greater New York Dietetic Association is raising its dues - by $10.00 per year for active/professional members, and by $5.00 per year for student and retired members. If you are a member of GNYDA, we urge you to renew your membership at the current rate of $35.00 per year for an active professional and $25.00 per year for a current student with valid student identification or retired member prior to the membership rate increase on June 1, 2014. If you are not currently a member of GNYDA, take advantage of the lower rates to join and enjoy the many benefits that membership brings for such a low cost to you.

While you are visiting the website, we welcome you to open the Calendar of Events to read through all of the Continuing Professional Education (CPE) activities that GNYDA is offering you this year. GNYDA is one of the only districts in New York State to provide this member-benefit of registering and paying for these events online.
As the work environment changes at an increasingly rapid pace, GNYDA plays an important role in educating, informing, and connecting nutrition professionals to new and exciting information and opportunities. Your participation and commitment to GNYDA significantly contributes to this process. Recently, at your request, GNYDA has spearheaded a new sponsorship policy for all events. We could not lead such innovations without you.
We encourage member interaction in our profession. GNYDA offers a number of chances to be involved, including, but not limited to:
* Attend a reasonably priced CPE event or conference, which includes networking opportunities.
* Join us at our membership meetings and provide feedback to the Academy through our Academy delegate.
* Influence the legislative and public policy issues that affect our profession and thepublic through updates and letter-writing campaigns. We are working hard to obtain licensure this year and will need you to make a difference.
* Submit articles and/or announcements to GNYDA's newsletter -- The Greater New Yorker. You may submit your articles or announcements to the editors at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.
* Become listed in our Directory of Counselors and Consultants. It is open to all Registered Dietitians with New York State certification. If you are hoping to jump start your consulting career, this is a great place to be listed. You can find the application for the directory on our website under "GNYDA Members".
* Join one of our Special Interest Groups, such as Nutritionists in AIDS Care (NIAC), Hunger & Environmental (HEN), Pediatrics, and Cultural Foods, to name just a few!
* Run for office or serve in an appointed position. As an officer or committee member, you have the opportunity to shape the organization and influence the public policy positions of the Association. You earn CPE credits for elected leadership roles for the Professional Development Portfolio Process.
GNYDA's membership has grown tremendously over the last few years. Let's make our Association even stronger by working together to make it work for us!
