Request for Handouts

Submissions are requested by October 1

Kids Eat Right is excited to announce that the Healthy Food Bank Hub, a health and wellness microsite of feedingamerica.org<http://www.phcnpg.org/eblast/link.cfm?eml=409&usr=004B1404445C265B4C5E1707401750410B1F4F55554C&desc=feedingamerica%2Eorg&dest=http%3A%2F%2Ffeedingamerica%2Eorg%2F> is well under way. It is set to launch later this fall, but to ensure that the site hosts the most helpful tools and resources, we are looking to you for help.

Does your organization have great nutrition education handouts for low-income individuals and families who are food insecure? Do you think others could use these materials in their communities? Help support the sharing of handouts by submitting<http://www.phcnpg.org/eblast/link.cfm?eml=409&usr=004B1404445C265B4C5E1707401750410B1F4F55554C&desc=submitting&dest=mailto%3ALMedrow%40eatright%2Eorg> your nutrition education handouts. Creating a Resource Hub

To support the use of quality nutrition education materials and creation of healthy food environments throughout the Feeding America network, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Feeding America, and the National Dairy Council will be creating a resource hub, as part of the Healthy Food Bank Hub, for the Feeding America food bank network, Academy members, and nutrition educators. We envision the resource hub of this microsite to be a value for:

  1. Locating vetted materials (including recipes) for promoting healthy eating appropriate for those facing food insecurity
  2. Identifying strategies to enhance food environments and promote health in a variety of settings where people facing food insecurity access food (e.g., food banks, community centers, schools, mobile food trucks)
  3. Sharing ideas and best practices for nutrition education and environmental changes targeting individuals and families facing food insecurity.

By submitting material(s) developed at your food bank/organization, you and your food bank/organization irrevocably grant Feeding America and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics the right, although not the obligation, to post all or any part of said material(s) on an externally-facing website, accessible to the public.

Please email handouts to Lisa Medrow<http://www.phcnpg.org/eblast/link.cfm?eml=409&usr=004B1404445C265B4C5E1707401750410B1F4F55554C&desc=submitting&dest=mailto%3ALMedrow%40eatright%2Eorg>, Kids Eat Right Project Specialist, by October 1!
