Since 1888, Saint Josephs Medical Center has served Yonkers, the surrounding communities of lower Westchester and New York City with patient-centered, quality-focused inpatient and outpatient care.

Saint Joseph's Medical Center is currently seeking a full time Renal Dietitian to report directly to the Clinical Nutrition Manager. You will be responsible for providing optimum nutritional care to hospital patients, nursing home residents, and dialysis outpatients through assessing their nutritional needs; developing, implementing, and re-evaluating nutritional care plans using the Nutrition Care Process; assisting in improving organizational performance procedures, in-services and community plans; and participating annually in continuing dietetic education.

To qualify, you must have a Bachelors degree in Food and Nutrition or Dietetics; have a current RD registration from the Commission on Dietetic Registration; and 1 year of experience in clinical dietetics in a healthcare institution. Experience working with Electronic Medical Records and with renal/dialysis patients is strongly preferred.

Just Food seeks three CSA Network Outreach Interns for the summer, with the option of continuing into the fall season. Interns will provide support to Just Food and its network of CSAs by performing site visits, engaging in tabling opportunities, identifying CSAs in need of training and technical assistance, and connecting these groups to the resources available at Just Food. Interns will gain a stronger understanding of the local food movement in New York City and of the CSA model, while building community outreach and professional communication skills.

This internship is unpaid, but Just Food is happy to work with students so that they may receive school credit when possible.

- Hours: Flexible! You determine your hours and schedule. More time = better compensation, but you can work 1 hour a week or 40 hours a week. Schedule clients on your own time, according to your calendar and availability (days, nights, weekends - whatever works for you and the client).
- Clients: Each health coach acquires her/his own clients, they are not provided by the company.  Clients can be drawn from existing client base, friends, family members, community and/or medical connections.  Training will be provided on acquiring, coaching, and growing client base.
- Skills: must be ambitious, health-minded, empathetic, and a team player with a go-getter personality.  RD, RDE, Diet Tech are all eligible. Training and mentorship will be provided for those who fit these criteria and would like to become part of one of the world's leading and fastest growing weight loss programs.
- Program: This program was created based on the National Weight Control Registry's studies of habits of people who lost a significant amount of weight and kept it off for more than 5 years. There are 3 components to the program: nutrition/diet, healthy lifestyle habits, and coaching/support.  The weight loss phase includes a combination of portion-controlled meal replacements and whole foods, and clients are then transitioned to a higher calorie (for weight maintenance) all whole food program once their goal weight is achieved.  Coaching is free to clients, coaches are compensated by the company.

Session Summary :
FODMAPs are short chain fermentable carbohydrates that can be the cause of GI distress for those who are unable to easily digest one or more of these carbohydrate categories.  Low FODMAP diets have been found to be the treatment option for many who have been suffering with IBS.  When treating these patients it is the isolation of the problem carbohydrates and the identification of tolerance limits that is currently the treatment protocol.  Because there are many foods in each category it can often be frustrating and confusing to identify where to start.  This program will give an overview of what FODMAPs are, how they contribute to IBS, how to utilize elimination diets to find the cause, and the strategies needed to implement dietary modifications.
