Position: Research Intern (Unpaid Internship)
Department: Grameen PrimaCare - Grameen Research
Reports to: Associate Director, Research & Evaluation
Hours: Part-Time (10-15 hours a week) and 6-month commitment
Position Summary
Grameen PrimaCare (GPC) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide underserved women with innovative and comprehensive health care programs that combine high-quality primary care, wellness services and health education, thereby empowering them to lead healthier lives and realize their full potential as business owners, mothers and community members.  GPC is affiliated with Grameen America, a micro-finance organization empowering low-income populations overcome poverty by providing financial resources.

This position requires a motivated self-starter to assist with research activities at Grameen PrimaCare. Areas of research interest will include, but are not limited to, exploratory research determining prevalence of chronic conditions such as diabetes, needs assessment to identify health needs and understand barriers to healthy behaviors, medical access, and determine health-related expenses incurred by Grameen members.

Research activities will include, but are not limited to, primary data collection through surveys, biologic assessments and focus groups.  Although unpaid, this position will afford co-authorship on presentations to national public health and research conferences. Training will be provided in the areas of survey administration, focus group moderation, data collection and research design.

Responsibilities include:

*         Schedule and organize study assessments

*         Correspond with study participants to schedule assessments

*         Administer surveys and collect biologic data

*         Code and analyze focus group data

Qualifications:

*         Bilingual (English/Spanish) required

*         Female

*         Post-baccalaureates are welcomed to apply; MPH and Masters-level students preferred

*         Strong research, written and verbal skills

*         Excellent organizational ability, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills

*         Ability to travel to Queens, NYC for study assessments

*         Previous experience in clinical research and focus group coordination a plus

*         Available 1-3 days per week from Summer 2014 through Winter 2014; minimum 6-month commitment
