There is a possibility for this position to continue after maternity leave as well. Coverage will probably be 1-2 days/week but flexible. General Responsibilities:



Eat Well Play Hard in Child Care Settings- Public Schools (EWPHCCS-PS) is a nutrition education

curriculum for pre-k through 1st grade teachers in NYC public elementary schools. The goal of

EWPHCCS-PS is to increase the consumption of fruit, vegetables and low-fat dairy products among 4-7

year olds and their families. Currently, the interactive and engaging nutrition lessons include ideas for

academic integration. However, with the Common Core Standards creating a new set of criteria for

classroom activities, a clear articulation of how EWPHCCS-PS meets these standards is necessary to ease

the use of this program among elementary school teachers.



The selected intern will:

Research Common Core Standards and become fluent in applying these standards to curricula.

Review EWPHCCS-PS to identify already embedded Standards

Make suggestions for revisions to better align EWPHCCS-PS to Common Core

Convene teacher group to provide feedback on project



Preferred Skills:

• Elementary school teaching experience in NYC

• Curriculum development experience

• Strong research skills and willingness to become fluent in Common Core Standards

• Manage a food action group of residents working together to improve access to healthy food and nutrition education in the South Bronx by supporting the Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative and other local food system change efforts.
