Through observation and evaluation, promote food production and service procedures that conserve nutritive value, flavor, appearance, and quality, and are attractively served at the proper temperature and in a form to meet individual needs.
Review and assess all initial and annual Nutritional Risk Reviews and care plans initiated by Dietary Manager or Diet Technician/Clinical Manager. Review and assess all nutritional high risk charting or do charting per direction of Administrator and state regulations. Assessments will be based on clinical data provided to the RD by the community.
Develop and conduct inservice training for dietary personnel and, as needed, for other healthcare community personnel.
Provide materials and other audio-visual aids, and information as available.
Instruct employees in the use of equipment, food service, sanitation, safety, housekeeping, personal hygiene, etc.
Develop skills in food preparation and service.
Promote participation in community training programs.
Work with and participate with other professional organizations, community and licensing agencies concerned with group care communities.
Establish procedures for routine reports to the Administrator on the activities and developments in the Dietary Department.
Participate in administrative staff meetings.
Continuously evaluate activities to determine progress, reassess goals, and establish new priorities.
Show the result of the evaluation with the Administrator and the Dietary Manager. If desired goals are not attained, try to determine with them what factors are impeding progress.
Provide to the community current CDR card and state license where required. The results of the annual TB test for the RD must also be given to the community.

The Department of Biomedical Informatics is looking for dietitians or dietitian trainees who can use digital images of meals and written descriptions of these meals to generate nutritional composition of these meals, such as inclusion of different macronutrients (carbohydrates, protein, fat, and fiber), and the meal's caloric value. The nutritional composition will be generated using a protocol developed in our research; candidates will receive training on how to follow the protocol in a consistent manner. The applicants will receive meal assessment requests using email and will be able to enter their assessment using a dedicated web-based software application. In addition, the position will require participating in monthly conference calls with project investigators to discuss project progress.

The incumbents will interact with members of the team, including working under the direction of principal investigator, Dr.Olena Mamykina.

Graduate level training in Nutrition or related fields (RD credential is a plus, but not required). Those who have taken coursework in Nutritional Epidemiology are especially encouraged to apply.

Maintains the highest level of customer service as outlined by departmental standards.

Qualifications
Education & Experience

• Product or service sales & marketing background recommended
• Experience setting and striving for personal business productivity quotas
• Personal Training experience preferred

Position Summary:
To provide for the nutritional care for all patients within the scope of responsibility and act as consultant to other health care professionals in determining the best nutritional care options for patients.

Key Responsibilities:
Completes Nutritional Assessments for all patients that fall within our scope of responsibility.
Provides oversight to dietetic technicians in providing patient care. Develops plan of care per clinical data, interview, diagnosis and treatment goals.
Provides recommendations for formulations, rate and volume for all tube fed and TPN patients, per Nutrition Support policy. Attends or provides input into Nutrition Support Service rounds for all patients assigned, including QA data.
Demonstrates competency in providing nutrition care to the patient population within our scope of responsibility (as applicable). Demonstrates an understanding of the regulatory requirements for nutrition care.
Instructs patients/families on therapeutic/special diets and general good nutrition habits. May also document why instruction is not necessary. Completes diet instructions for patients on complex diets such as diabetic or renal diets.
ElderONE ONLY: Provides education to ElderONE Team Members responsible for supporting diet plan in center or at home.
Monitors patient progress and follows up per policies and standards of practice. Documents in patient record all interventions provided by the Department per RGHS policies and standards.
Maintains the highest level of customer service as outlined by departmental standards.
Actively participates in team discussions, shares knowledge and experience; accepts new ideas; supports team consensus.
Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with the entire interdisciplinary team. Promotes the goals and standards of nutritional care at patient rounds, care conferences, hospital committees, pathway development, collaborative practice, etc.
Oversees the implementation of diets, formulary supplements, calorie counts and snacks that are consistent with the patient's medical condition and treatment goals, per department policy on
Clinical Interventions.
Utilizes DFM and/or established diet office procedures to ensure patients receive the appropriate foods based on preferences and prescriber orders.
Keeps abreast of nutrition advances by participating in and contributing to in-service education.
Quality Food Service Operations: Remains current on laws/regulations regarding safe food handling, service and storage.
Directs activities of Food Service Associates as needed.
Communicates with vendors/sales reps on new product or repairs to equipment as needed.
Participates in office/department procedures and committees as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.

The Registered Dietitian (RD) assures delivery of Pediatric Nutrition Care at assigned sites, including BHSC facilities, community programs/schools, or the client’s homes. The RD will provide Medical Nutrition Therapy for assigned clients. This involves the assessment of nutritional status and treatment including diet therapy, counseling, and use of specialized nutritional pediatric formulas/supplements and support according to accepted standards of practice set forth by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and BHSC policy. DUTIES:
Assess / Monitor the Residents' nutritional status, provide recommendations to medical staff, and develop adequate care plans Evaluate special needs of Residents regarding nutrition support, skin breakdown, and significant weight issues Coordinate procurement of nutrition support supplies and oral supplements with outside vendors as well as involved department heads Monitor Resident meal service to ensure diet modifications are followed Educate Residents, families and staff in concepts of nutrition & diet modification Routinely evaluate Dietary Care plans for effectiveness to ensure high quality of care Meet weekly with interdisciplinary team to review and adjust residents’ plan of care Work closely with Speech-Language Pathologist to ensure appropriate mechanically altered diets are provided for residents with dysphagia Reviewing all menu changes to ensure they follow facility’s policies/procedures & State/Federal guidelines Update diet order and menu changes in computer menu software on a daily basis Supervising & working closely with the dietary team to provide excellent Resident care Conduct audits of areas relevant to providing quality nutrition care on a routine basis Ensure facility is in compliance with regulations and policies on weight monitoring Communicate with interdisciplinary team on a daily basis to provide quality care to Residents
