REQUIREMENTS

Registered Dietitian (preferred) or any one of the following: Masters or PhD in nutrition, Registered Nurse (RN), with a Masters and a minimum of six credit hours in nutrition.

Experience with limited resource population and culturally diverse population.

Qualifications

State licensure required if licensure is available in the state where the facility is located

Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or similar area required

Minimum of 12 months' professional work experience in clinical nutrition as a Registered Dietitian required

Ability to work flexible schedules, possibly for multiple facilities and travel when needed

After hire and training, successful completion of the Competency Assessment for Renal Dietitians (CARD) with a score of at least 80% required

The Nutrition Education Program Aide provides assistance to the Live Healthy! Program Manager or the Live Healthy! Instructors. As a part of the East Smart NY Program, Live Healthy! offers hands-on, interactive nutrition education workshops to the children and adults of New York City aimed to improve the overall quality of life. A strong emphasis is placed on the nutritional value of fresh fruits and vegetables and their impact on healthy living and longevity. Job Responsibilities

Assist assigned Instructor with the provision of 40 off-site and on-site activities including nutrition education classes and cooking demonstrations to program sites within Upper Manhattan and the Bronx.

Assist with the engagement of participants in environmental activities focused on healthy eating and overall wellness.

Assist assigned Instructor with all aspects of preparation, implementation and take-down for children's and adult health workshops.

Assist Instructor with food preparation and demonstration.

Assist in transportation of equipment and supplies to and from activities. Lifting equipment in excess of 50 lbs

Provide classroom management assistance during the children's health workshops

Participate in instruction of physical activity portion of class.

Qualifications: Associates degree and experience in nutrition education, exercise training or other health related work required. Strong personal interest in cooking, active and healthy living. Strong clerical and organizational skills. Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task. Must be comfortable working with diverse populations. Must be bilingual, either English/Spanish or English/Mandarin/Cantonese. Must be able to lift 50lbs+. Knowledge of client tracking programs and Microsoft Excel a plus.
