Sports and Arts in the School Foundation is seeking a Community Nutrition

Intern for Summer 2015



Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation (SASF) is New York’s leading provider

of after-school programs. Our mission is to help bridge the academic performance gap among under-achieving students and in low income neighborhoods

through wholesome, skill-building activities designed to improve children’s

academic performance, health and wellness, attitude towards school, self-confidence, character and values, and opportunity for lifelong employment.



Sports and Arts in the School Foundation is seeking a Community Nutrition

Intern for the Summer 2015



The Community Nutrition Intern will work directly with the Director of

Sports, Wellness and Fitness. This position will allow an intern to work in

the implementation and development of wellness programming (Eat 4 Life) at

afterschool programs for underserved youth. The opportunity will also allow

the Community Nutrition Intern to gain experience in sports and fitness

program development (Champions 4 Life and Fit 4 Life).





*Essential Job Functions:*



·       Development of nutrition outreach tools, such as newsletters and

handouts



·       Assist in development and implementation of Eat 4 Life, Champions 4

Life, and Fit 4 Life Curriculum



·       Assist in the implementation of Eat 4 Life, Champions 4 Life and

Fit 4 Life program sessions



·       Assist with worksite wellness initiative development and

implementation



·       Perform basic office tasks as assigned, such as typing, filing,

photocopying and faxing



·       Provide support and monitoring to afterschool program staff with

wellness, sports and fitness programs







*Qualifications*



·       Degree in Nutrition or currently pursuing degree in nutrition



·       Interest or background in Sports and/or Fitness



·       Strong listening skills, oral and written communication skills and

the ability to follow directions, are all required to perform this role



·       14 or more hours required a week





Location: Woodside, Queens



Reports: Director of Fitness and Wellness



Time: Non-Exempt/unpaid internship
