Edible Schoolyard NYC Fall Kitchen & Garden Volunteer Program

About Edible Schoolyard NYC

Edible Schoolyard NYC partners with public schools to build gardens and kitchen classrooms where children can engage in hands-on learning. Our goal is to provide students with the knowledge, skills and environment required to make healthier choices and change the way they eat for life.

Position Descriptions

Our 2 showcase school sites at PS/MS 7 & Global Tech in East Harlem and PS 216 in Gravesend, Brooklyn, are in need of Kitchen Classroom and Garden Volunteers throughout the fall semester.

Garden volunteers have the opportunity to develop and share skills related to growing organic food in an urban environment, and will work alongside equally enthusiastic advocates of edible education.

Kitchen volunteers play an essential role in the operation of cooking class. Many of their responsibilities focus on classroom cleanliness and equipment organization, alongside creating a learning environment that allows students to cook in a well-ordered classroom. Volunteers end the day sharing a tasting with the students who cooked it!

Please see the attached postings for detailed information on Garden and Kitchen volunteer opportunities at PS/MS7 & PS216.
