ASTHO, Food Marketing Workgroup, and NPLAN Webinar Series

March 26, 2013

Healthier Food Choices for Public Places: Healthy Vending, 3:00-3:30 pm EDT (12:00 PDT)

Healthy Vending and Working with Blind Vendors, 3:30-4:30 pm EDT (12:30 PDT)

Part of the ‘What You Need to Know to Promote Healthy Eating in Your State!’ webinar series

The ASTHO, Food Marketing Workgroup, and NPLAN webinar series is offering two back-to-back webinars on healthy vending in public places and working with blind vendors. The first webinar will give an introduction to healthy vending, including: rationale for pursuing healthy vending; the National Alliance for Nutrition and Activity Model Vending Guidelines; tips for implementation; and an introduction to working with blind vendors.

The second webinar will be a discussion about working with blind vendors. The webinar will start with an overview of the Randolph-Sheppard Act, the Act that gives blind vendors the right of first refusal to vend on federal property, and similar legislation affecting states and localities. Three case studies from North Carolina, Montana, and Alabama, which have worked with blind vendors, will follow. The state representatives will share about working with blind vendors, what was successful, and what could have been more successful.
