May 2012 Updates

[quote_1.jpg]

Dear Friends of the Institute,

As spring draws to a close and summer approaches, many of the projects that the CUNY Institute for Health Equity (CIHE) have been working on are blossoming. As a grantee of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation (WKKF), we are excited to announce that the Institute was invited to the America Healing conference in New Orleans. The Institute spent some time in “The Big Easy” at this awareness-raising event that was designed as a strategy to move towards racial healing by holding a forum in which to address the issues of structural racism. To find out more about WKKF, click on http://www.wkkf.org/<http://cts.vresp.com/c/?CUNYInstituteForHeal/af3aa327ac/ed931e58ad/38869268b4>

In keeping with WKKF's focus of promoting social justice and raising public awareness of racial inequality, the Institute is distributing free PDF copies of Is it Just a Matter of Descuido (lack of caring about one's health)? The Health Care Seeking Journey of Latino men in New York City by Ernesto Vasquez del Aguia, PhD and Marilyn Aguirre-Molina, EdD, MS and Executive Director of the Institute. Wishing everyone a happy and relaxing summer,
