Exciting Update

The Public health program will be offering a Special Class Spring 2015

I hope you will consider taking the public health elective, Producing a Public Health Documentary in the Spring. The class is cross listed as a

public health MPH elective and as an IMA (Integrated Media Arts in Film and Media Studies). Half the students are in public health and half

are in film. There are no pre-requisites for Public Health students. The class will be divided into small groups made up of Public Health and Film Production students.

Each group will create a 20-minute public health documentary. Last year, a few of the completed documentaries won several awards and all of the films were screened at many events -- all very exciting!.

Public health students will work on developing the concept and ideas for the film. They will focus on research, identifying and interviewing key people to be interviewed, script writing as well as other aspects of developing the documentary.

Students from the Integrated Media Arts MFA program will work on the above and will do the cinematography, sound and technical aspects to editing.

PH students with demonstrated experience in filmmaking can work with the IMA students on the technical aspects as well. We will not be teaching production skills during the semester.

Thanks,

Barbara
