Dear students, I am deeply sorry to share the sad news of the passing away of Professor Arlene Spark's husband. Our thoughts and prayers are with her and the family during this difficult time.

DANIEL OCHS, 85, of Demarest, NJ, passed away peacefully on October 4th at home surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Cologne, Germany, and emigrated with his family to the United States at the start of World War II.  Dan graduated from the Bronx High School of Science, The City College of New York, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and Downstate Medical Center. He was board certified in both radiology and nuclear medicine, and served as chief of Radiology at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital and as clinical assistant professor at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He also served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy.

Known for his intellect, wit, and insatiable curiosity, Dan was a teacher and polymath – devoted to science, classical music, art and all technology--from Apples to slide rules.  He was dedicated to family and is survived by his wife, Arlene Spark, siblings Eva Haberman and Michael Ochs, son Jordan Ochs, daughters Susan Ochs, Jennifer Mueller and Danielle Bier, son-in-law Benny Mueller, and grandchildren Alexander, Harrison, Justin, and Katherina. Burial services at noon on Sunday, October 6th at Cedar Park Cemetery. The family will be sitting shiva in Demarest at 37 Blanche Avenue, 3-6 pm on Sunday and 4-8 pm Monday and Tuesday, and in New York at One West 85th Street, Apt 12A at times tba.
