2012 Summer Public Health Undergraduate Programs at the University of
Michigan

 

The Summer Enrichment Program in Health Management and Policy (SEP), is
designed to familiarize undergraduate students with how management and
policy can combine to combat inequalities in health care that confront
low-income communities across the United State via practical work
experience. Interns are placed in hospitals, community health centers, and
other health care organizations in the Detroit-Ann Arbor-Flint area. This
program is now in its 27th year. The application is available on our website

The Future Public Health Leaders Program (FPHLP) is designed to increase
awareness of Health Behavior/Health Education and Environmental Health
Sciences as viable career options for undergraduates and recent graduates
interested in eliminating health disparities. Students will be placed in
public health and community-based organizations in the Southeast Michigan
area that can provide them with experiential learning opportunities in
either Health Behavior/Health Education or in Environmental Health. The
Future Public Health Leaders Program (FPHLP) is funded through a Cooperative
Agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Office
of Minority Health and Health Equity (OMHHE). For program details and

SEP and FPHLP program participants will receive a paid eight-week summer
internship, an orientation session, on-campus housing, and round-trip travel
expenses to and from Ann Arbor. MI. Daily transportation to and from the
internship site, and a GRE preparation course (Kaplan) and are also provided
at no cost to the students.
