Pre-health Community!

My name is Ryan Sankar, President of the American Red Cross at Hunter College and Service Chair of the Regional Campus Council of Youth Services.

My American Red Cross team has been active at Hunter College for the past year and has accumulated 5000 hours between 180 ACTIVE volunteers [Fall 15, Spring 16, Summer 16] --> That's freaking insane and compared to previous team, they have only accumulated 200 hours annually between 20 members.

So, what are we doing differently? We're catering to you.

Our team also is comprised of Pre-health students just like you, we understand the struggle!

As pre-health students we're committed, compassionate, and collaborative; which just happens to be 3 of the 5 cores the Red Cross appreciates in their volunteers

not only has the difficulty of acceptance to medical school increased from 33% to 25% but the total hours of community service amongst all applicants has reached an all time high of 12.1 MILLION hours

We are here partnering with the pre-health department amongst other student bodies to ensure you this one easy pathway to gain the skills needed to enter the medical field, whichever pathway you intend to enter; pre-nursing, pre-physician assistant, pre-vet, pre-pharmacy, pre-med

Even if you are not pre-health, JOIN US, helping people is always nice.

Our next major and monthly meeting will be on:

Friday, September 2nd from 1:30PM to 3:00PM in 1203E

Some of my supervisors (if they are coming that should tell you we're legit) from the ARC and myself will be at this meeting to inform you of all things red cross and get you registered and volunteering with us. Everyone will leave with a volunteer opportunity!

Prior to attending this meeting, please use one of these links to register with us:

Prospective volunteers ages 18 and over, use this link: 18 and over<https://volunteerconnection.redcross.org/?nd=intake&entry_point_id=5283&unit_id=236>

Prospective Volunteers under 18, use this link: Under 18<https://volunteerconnection.redcross.org/?nd=intake&entry_point_id=5041&unit_id=236>

If prompted, choose ' The Greater New York Area" as your chapter.

Once you have cleared your background check, which shouldn't take more 1-2 business days, You can begin volunteering to our American Red Cross Affiliated Events. An orientation should be completed during the registration process. If it has been more than 3 days and you have not cleared the background or if you experience any issues with your registration, shoot us an email-- we'll troubleshoot on our end!

Looking forward to seeing you at the meeting!

Best,
Ryan A. Sankar
