The Annual LMSA Northeast Regional Conference brings together around 400 Latino high school students, premedical students, medical students, graduating physicians, residents, and practicing physicians interested in serving the healthcare needs of their community. This year's regional conference will include special keynote speakers (Miriam Zoila Pérez and Ana Núñez), a series of workshops on the healthcare needs of the Latino community, MCAT and USMLE Prep, advice from residents, healthcare policy, and several networking events.
Regional Conference will be followed by a brief Spring House of Delegates (HOD) meeting which will include election of the new regional board.
ALL CHAPTERS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND  BOTH REGIONAL CONFERENCE AND SPRING HOD

A Couple Words on Our Keynote Speakers...
Ana Núñez<https://lmsa-ne.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=dcccbb45918bd582b27144656&id=31605e7968&e=1f2fa2e9b1>, MD, is the associate dean for diversity, equity and inclusion. She is also the director of the Center of Excellence in Women's Health and director of the Women's Health Education Program at Drexel University College of Medicine.
She is a nationally recognized medical educator in women's health, curricular reform and cultural competency. Dr. Núñez has developed varied educational interventions including a women's health education series that has been successfully integrated and evaluated within the medical school's curricular tracks.
She has also served as a test-question reviewer for the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) for cultural competence and sex/gender medical education, and was co-editor of the Achieving Cultural Competency Casebook. In 2015, she was awarded the prestigious Herbert W. Nickens Award by the AAMC, honoring her effort to advance the educational, societal, and healthcare needs of minorities.

Ana Núñez, MD - Towards a Trauma-Informed City: Challenges and Opportunities in Philadelphia



Miriam Zoila Pérez,  is a queer Cuban-American writer and activist focused on race, health and gender. Pérez is the gender columnist for Colorlines<https://lmsa-ne.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=dcccbb45918bd582b27144656&id=a200f5b7ff&e=1f2fa2e9b1>, and is the founder of Radical Doula<https://lmsa-ne.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=dcccbb45918bd582b27144656&id=e4dcd47e16&e=1f2fa2e9b1>, a blog that covers the intersections of birth activism and social justice from a doula's perspective. Her interest in birth started sometime in middle school, during various hour-long sessions pouring over health books at friend's houses. She became a doula in 2004, after watching the documentary Born in the USA<https://lmsa-ne.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=dcccbb45918bd582b27144656&id=b2aac24bda&e=1f2fa2e9b1> and deciding that birth activism was her passion.
