Hey Pre-dents,



Attached to this email is the constitution for the Pre-dental Society of Hunter College.  In the attachment, you will find information regarding Executive Board position requirements and roles.  I will also highlight some crucial details about each role.  This email will be long and addresses everything you need to know!!  Please do not email us regarding elections if you have not read this email in its entirety.  You probably scrolled pass the answer... LOL!



E-board member eligibility: Though not stated in the constitution (but in charter requirements for the USG), it is required for ALL potential E-board members to: Be full-time students (12+ credits), have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 AND if you are a Freshman, you may run for any position other than president or vice-president for your sophomore year.



Disclaimers:



1.) If you just joined this 2015 Spring semester, you can vote for officers, but you cannot fulfill any position on the E-board.

2.) You can only run for one position.

3.) Duplicate votes will be disqualified altogether.  "Run for one, vote for one."

4.) You can vote for yourself, UNLESS you feel as if your opponent has more to offer than you.  In that case, vote for them.  #TheChoiceIsYours.

5.) You should have social skills and be willing to assist your fellow E-board members with things outside of your role, occasionally.  For example, the vice-president may design a flier if the director of public relations is out-of-town or studying for an exam.

6.) If you are a graduating senior, you will not be excused from any responsibilities!

7.) If you are taking 11.5 credits and desire to run, find another .5 credit to be considered a "full-time" student.  No freebies will be granted as this rule is set by the USG.

8.) ONLY run if you KNOW you can take on your role to the best of you ability and can bring something to the PDS besides your presence.  After all, anyone can do this!

9.) IF by any chance, no one runs for a position since the minimum requirements are not met, the president reserves the right to open the election for those with lesser requirements. EX: No one runs for vice-president (very unlikely), but Brad Pitt wants to run, yet only have been an active member for a year. And then, Hillary Clinton also wants to run and has been active for a year and lets say, 5 months.  Bobby can re-open elections under the condition of a one-year membership. Capiche? This rule applies to all E-board positions, but the likelihood is this occurring is not so likely...



President: A "Bobby."  Delegation, organization and execution! This person "serves as chairperson of the Executive Board, preside at society meetings, and oversee all activities of the Hunter College Pre-dental Society" You will be working in conjunction with the pre-health office to plan and execute events.  In order to run for this position, you MUST have been an ACTIVE member for at least two academic years-not one year, one year and a half or not one year and 364 days.  This requirement or any other will not be altered for any person for any reason.  Therefore, if you joined after Fall 2013, you will not be eligible to serve as president.  **Our email sign-up service indicates when you joined to prevent any uncertainty of membership. ** Lastly, an active member is someone who regularly attends events.  If you attended only one or two, you are still a member, but NOT an active member. We have a record at the pre-health office of event rosters to ascertain if you were active for this academic year or not.



Vice-President: A "Meirrel."  This person is to assist the President-elect and to preside at society meetings."  The Vice-president's role is almost identical to that of the president's, except that this person will execute events and carry-out requests from the president-elect.  This person is also required to be an active member for two years.  Again, no exceptions will be granted.



Treasurer: An "Albiona." Just as America runs on Dunkin, the PDS cannot operate effectively without the president and treasurer working strategically and efficiently together.  This person is "to act as the official custodian of the funds and accounts of the HCPDS, and to dispense PDS funds as directed by the Executive Board." You are required to be an active member for atlas one year to fulfill this position.



Secretary:  A "Nazia." The secretary most definitely needs to  be on their "P's and Q's!"  This person is to "take accurate minutes at HCPDS and Executive Board meetings, and maintain records of all pertinent PDS business."  They must attend all meetings and be able to send emails with meeting details.  As secretary, you are also required to check the PDS email periodically and respond to all correspondence. You are required to be an active member for at least one year to fulfill this position.



Director of Dental Shadowing and Assisting: This "Ilana" is to "help establish shadowing and assisting opportunities for members" and to "maintain a record of students who have been involved in any particular shadowing opportunity hosted by the PDS."



Director of Public Relations: A "Salma." The three main roles of this person are to: 1. To draft fliers pertinent to an event, which will be approved by the President.

2. To strategically place fliers throughout the Hunter Campus, with the aid of the Executive Board

3. To discover more efficient methods to reach out to the Hunter College Pre-Dental Community.



**You also must be willing to sometimes work on impulse when the treasurer and president requests a fliers for an event to be handed in to the USG.



Webmaster:  An "Alma." This person is to To maintain and occasionally update the official website and Facebook page of the PDS regarding events.

2. To post interesting dental related articles on Facebook, on a weekly basis.

3. To respond and answer questions regarding member’s inquiries on Facebook.





**Though this is a given, you must be a Hunter student to fulfill any PDS E-board position.**
