FYI!!
I would like to bring your attention to a very important matter and website.
The NIH has recently specified their definition of what students would
qualify as:
a. under-represented in biomedical research
b. students with a disability
c. students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
http://grants.nih.gov/training/faq_diversity.htm#a3
MD-PhD Programs (and most summer programs) will be using the aforementioned
federal definitions. Please note, in addition to reporting to the NIH how
many underrepresented students are in their MD-PhD Programs, MD-PhD Programs
now need to report to the NIH how many students we have from disadvantaged
backgrounds.
I hope you and your students find this website helpful.
Best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season and New Year.
