National Cancer Institute Fellowship

Johns Hopkins University and the Center for Cancer Research/National Cancer Institute (CCR/NCI<https://ccr.cancer.gov>) have partnered to develop an innovative graduate program that prepares the next generation of scientists in drug discovery technologies. This new concentration in Molecular Targets and Drug Discovery Technologies combined with the CCR/NCI fellowship fully integrates the didactic training and hands-on laboratory experience required for graduates to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and research in the field of drug discovery.

Students will focus on such areas as bioassay development, chemical libraries, molecular targets and cancer, and high-throughput screening laboratory automation. The competitive fellowship program allows selected fellows to earn an MS in Biotechnology with a concentration in Molecular Targets and Drug Discovery Technologies, participate in important cancer research, work in CCR/NCI laboratories, work with research project mentors, and receive paid tuition for up to two years in addition to an annual stipend. Up to five students per year will be selected for the two-year fellowship. Fellows receive the stipend only if they are accepted into the MS in Biotechnology and the NCI Molecular Target and Drug Discovery Fellowship Program.

The MS in Biotechnology degree is a 10-course graduate program. The part-time format will allow fellows to work in CCR/NCI laboratories while completing their degree. Courses are taught conveniently online and onsite during evening and weekends. Application to the Fellowship also requires an additional application to the MS in Biotechnology program.
