Position: Responsible, medically-minded morning caregiver wanted for Type 1 diabetic 12 year old boy and his younger brother, age 11, and sister (pre-diabetic) age 6.


Employer/Organization: SOHO family

Location: Private residence in SOHO: short walk from R train, 6 train, N/Q trains, J train, A/C/E trains, and 1 train.

Hours per week: 7:00 – 8:30 AM Monday – Friday (10 hours/wk)

Intended Start Date: Training will take place late August/first week of September, and the position would start September 8th.

Intended End Date: Mid-June 2016

Salary: $40-50 per shift (1.5 hours) (commensurate with experience)

Position Description:

We are looking for someone who is truly special, who has a medical background or wants to pursue one, has knowledge of and/or training in Type 1 diabetes care, or wants to be trained and experienced in this field for future career-related reasons.

This job requires a high level of responsibility and accountability, but everything you need to know in terms of diabetes care will be taught to you.

This job is ideal for a pre-health professional. However, while the diabetes aspect is a huge component of the job, a lot of the time is basic child-care while also 
monitoring blood glucose levels.

Diabetes specific duties include:



•      Administering insulin via pump according to carbohydrate and protein calculations!



•       Using Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM)



•      Keeping records of all food and insulin intake



•      Cook breakfast and count carbohydrates



•      Taking action to correct for low and high blood sugar levels



•      Insertion of sites for CGM and pump
