Pre-Health Discussion Forum: Health Insurance and Paying for Healthcare

Description:

American healthcare system has some of the most advanced interventions and state of the art care that translates into better treatment of chronic disease and improved cancer outcomes, yet among developed countries it has greatest health care spending along with poorest health system performance. In the inaugural club meeting, participants are invited to discuss the state of American healthcare and potential solutions in the context of accessibility, insurance, and policy.

Discussion Questions:

Although a majority do, why don't ALL physicians support a single-payer healthcare system? Take an evidence-based stand for or against a single-payer healthcare system.

Given that the US healthcare system ranks very high for costs and very low for health outcomes, propose beneficial alternatives to the current systems.
