Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate volunteers are needed for the LGBT Health Workforce Conference being held at Hunter College on Thursday, April 28/30 and at Cornell on April 29.  Volunteers will assist with registration, giving directions, etc.  They can attend the conference for FREE! We are also looking for someone who would be willing to coordinate volunteers throughout the conference- no experience necessary!



Of particular interest to some of you may be a panel on applying to Medical and Dental school as an LGBT applicant featuring the Dean of Student Affairs from Weill Cornell School of Medicine and the Director of Human Capital for AAMC on Thursday, April 28.  There is also a workshop later that afternoon on personal statements presents by an Assistant Dean from the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine in Florida.



Other panels and workshops will feature the deans and directors from Rutgers School of Medicine, Rutgers Dental School, Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, Weill Cornell Medical College, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Case Western School of Medicine, Quinnipiac University School of Medicine,  Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing, Columbia University School of Nursing, University of Louisville School of Medicine, Texas Tech University Health Sciences University, Indiana University School of Medicine, Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, UC Davis Health System, University of Rochester Medical Center,  Vanderbilt School of Medicine. Representatives from many of these schools will be tabling during a FREE fair from 4:30-7 later that same day.



The conference (and volunteer opportunity) are open to everyone, there is an impressive list of speakers (see schedule below or visit http://bngap.org/lgbthwfconf/), and this is an excellent opportunity to network with representatives from institutions where diversity and culturally competent clinical care are emphasized, taught, and valued. I volunteered and attended the conference last year and found it very helpful while working on my application.
