Organization
A New York City office of three orthopedic surgeons, specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery; affiliated with NYU Langone Medical Center

Position Description
This position is a great stepping stone for individuals interested in medical research and/or applying to medical school.

The research assistant works directly with principal investigators and hand surgery fellows.

Job responsibilities include the following:

*  Supporting and managing ongoing research initiative

*  Working directly with the Institutional Review Board for approving, monitoring and reviewing research studies

*  Spearheading and managing the creation of new research initiatives

*  Obtaining informed consent, and educating patients regarding study requirements

*  Performing regular follow-ups with research patients

*  Compiling and analyzing study data to determine pertinent results

*  Assisting in the creation and submission of research manuscripts with the possibility of having your name published

*  Videotaping and/or photographing surgical procedures

Position Requirements
Applicants must be highly proficient in excel. Clinical research experience is preferred but not required. Applicants should have prior professional work experience and an undergraduate degree from a four year institution. Must have strong interpersonal skills, excellent attention to detail, and feel comfortable contacting patients for research follow up.



Start Date

June/July 2017.



Time

10-15 hours per week.  1 Year commitment.
