Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP)
Spring Application Deadline: November 30 DEADLINE EXTENDED: December 8

The Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation is an alliance of 17 CUNY Colleges and the CUNY Graduate Center. Students participate in faculty research and receive mentoring from senior faculty. The Alliance provides academic scholarship support to CUNY students majoring in the STEM disciplines, making research an integral part of STEM education in New York City.

HHMI Summer Research Internship: Marine Biological Laboratory
Summer application deadline: December 24

The Howard Hughes Medical Institute is offering an exciting summer research internship in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. Students who are majoring in Biology spend the summer (10 weeks) working alongside renowned research scientists, and earn a $3,000 stipend. Room and board and transportation are also provided.

Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship (IGERT)
Application deadline: January 1

In partnership with the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, IGERT adds a radiochemistry component to students' doctoral training. The program features include a sub-discipline concentration in nanotechnology, organic, inorganic, analytical, physical, and biochemistry.

HOW TO APPLY
1. This program is specifically for Chemistry PhD students
2. Take the GRE and send scores to the Graduate Center, CUNY

Hunter's 2014 Undergraduate Research Conference: Request for Proposals
Proposal submission deadline: January 17

The 2nd annual Undergraduate Research Conference (www.hunter.cuny.edu/ugresearch/conference/rfp?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter1113ugrcrfp) at Hunter College will be held on March 5-6, 2014. The conference provides a forum for Hunter undergraduates from all disciplines and departments to present their research or scholarship via poster sessions and oral presentations. Applications are now being accepted for students interested in presenting posters or oral presentations.

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR PROPOSAL
1. Make sure your faculty advisor approves of you submitting a proposal to present
2. Decide whether you would like to present a poster or a 10-minute oral presentation
3. Prepare an abstract about your work in 250 words or less
4. Fill out this form (bit.ly/UGRC2014abstract)
5. Send your faculty advisor this link (bit.ly/UGRC2014sponsor) so that she/he can formally approve of your submission


Blueprint Program for Enhancing Neuroscience Diversity through Undergraduate Education (BP-ENDURE)
Application deadline: January 31

The BP-ENDURE program is designed to identify exceptionally talented undergraduates and prepare them to obtain doctoral degrees in neuroscience-related fields of study. The program offers specialized neuroscience courses, summer research experiences, and mentoring from senior faculty.
