  Title of talk: *The Brotherhood: Firefighting Culture and Organizational
Duress*

 This is a study of firefighting in four municipalities which focuses on
how firefighting is experienced within changing realities of public sector
work in the United States. Ly did extensive ethnographic observation and
informal interviews with work crews of differing sizes and locations.
