The Aging in New York Fund is seeking an undergraduate or graduate student to work on the development of a web-based menu planning application. Under general direction, the Nutrition Intern will be responsible for the following:
* Modify recipes so that they meet the nutritional guidelines established by The Department for the Aging
* Complete the nutrient analysis of recipes and menus using Nutritionist Pro software
* Enter recipes and nutrient analysis information into the developed database
* Conduct trainings for senior center staff on how to use the application
* Communicate with community partners
* Participate in the development workgroup; complete written reports and summaries
**This position may require travel throughout the 5 boroughs of NYC
Minimum Qualifications
* Currently enrolled and have completed a minimum of 30 credits in an undergraduate program in nutrition and/or dietetics OR currently enrolled in a graduate program in nutrition and/or dietetics
* Good computer skills
* Interest in working with the senior population
* Comfortable working with staff
* Passion for food and nutrition
* Willing to travel within the 5 boroughs of NYC
* Knowledge of or the ability to learn how to complete a nutrient analysis using nutrient analysis software
* Comfortable working in a professional office environment
Compensation
This assignment begins in June 2013 and candidates should be available to work 14 hours per week. The hourly rate for undergraduate interns is $12 per hour; the hourly rate for graduate interns is $17 per hour. Hired interns are considered part-time, non-exempt temporary employees. Temporary employees are those individuals hired for a period of one year or less, regardless of how many hours worked per week, and are not eligible for benefits.
