This study is to evaluate LSAMP and its impact on CUNY students and has
received CUNY-wide IRB approval and special approval to use iPods during
recruitment efforts. This research seeks to identify the most significant
factors that influence the recruitment, retention and graduation of students
who major in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). It is
important to begin informing students about this exciting research.

All CUNY students, who have a history of majoring in a STEM discipline, are
encouraged to complete the survey. Participants will be able to sign up for
the on-line questionnaire by going to the LSAMP website. Students may also
be emailed a direct link to the on-line questionnaire. Because all collected
data will be completely anonymous, this research serves as an excellent
opportunity for CUNY students to voice their concerns. Furthermore, the
results of this study will identify which factors strengthen or weaken the
success of CUNY students with STEM majors--especially, underrepresented
minority students.

Greetings Ms. Woodhill:

Sorry to bother you, but I was sent this very interesting
survey by one of our graduate students, Adashima Muhammad. MPH who aims to
investigate the factors of retention and success in students who are
majoring in STEM areas in CUNY. Although the target is to have students who
are STEM majors completing the survey, at this moment Adashima is being
flexible in acepting other majors completing the survey as well. Please find
the letter directed to faculty members and the survey flyer itself with
direct link to the survey, after completing at least 50 reponses, I will
schedule a raffle day to win an Ipod touch. Could please send this survey to
your students. As always,Thank you.

Alicia
